Project Highlights

  • As a small town coming off a very successful redevelopment project with the Ft. Piqua Hotel in historic downtown Piqua, city leaders wanted to continue revitalization/redevelopment efforts taking a holistic approach.
  • Using the 2007 Plan it Piqua Comprehensive Plan, Piqua’s Economic Development and Planning departments asked Resurgence Group and Front Street Analytics to team and analyze the most promising opportunities for redevelopment among the eighteen Areas of Interest as identified in the Plan it Piqua Comprehensive Plan.
  • In the subsequent Plan It Piqua Redevelopment Analysis Report, Resurgence ranked the top five areas of interest and included a SWOT Analysis, funding sources and possible redevelopment strategies. Front Street Analytics assembled market data pertinent to further advancing Piqua’s revitalization/redevelopment initiative.
  • The City of Piqua published an RFP in June 2010 for site remediation on the former Piqua Hospital which was identified as the most viable site for redevelopment by Resurgence. Also in June 2010 the Ohio Department of Development awarded the City $200,000 through the Clean Ohio Assistance Fund to be used for environmental assessments.
